    Description

Japanese Pottery Vase - Woven Gilded Metal Basket Weave Overlay 10" T. Late Meiji
We are pleased to offer from our personal collection this antique Japanese pottery vase with a woven gilded metal overlay. The baluster shaped vase has an warm cream color ground with a reddish brown crackle glaze. There is a tight metal basket weave overlay woven around the top and the neck then repeated near the bottom. Between these two areas of tightly woven basket weave is a broader basket weave overlay. The woven metal appears to be gilded. The gilded metal basket weave is tightly woven and appears all intact with no breaks. The vase is unmarked. This vase has been previously used in the past and there is debris noted inside of the vase. The reddish brown crackle glaze looks attractive on this cream ground. The vase would make a superb addition to your collection of Japanese Ceramics.
