    Description

I have come upon a small collection of 5 books in "The International Library of Negro Life and History".  Ultimately the set came to include 10 books, from what I have been able to learn on the internet.  From the internet describing this publication:  "Though partially superseded in scholarship in recent years, this was a landmark work: the first successful attempt at a comprehensive and well-researched encyclopedia of African-American life in all its phases, from the colonial era through the first two-thirds of the 20th century.Contributors included many luminaries of 20th-century African-American literature and scholarship, including Prince Wilson, John Oliver Killens, Elton Fax, Wilhelmena Robinson, and many others."  I will be listing the five volumes individually.  All are described similarly:  First Editions published in 1967 by Publishers Company, under the auspices of The Association for the Study of Negro Life and History.  All have dust jackets that have light edge wear, some tears, all fully intact and now handsomely portrayed in mylar jackets.  Boards in pristine like new condition with black & silver decoration and letters on a beige background.  Interior pristine, unread, with no markings, cover to cover.  A handsome edition to any library!
This listing is for Negro Americans in the Civil War from Slavery to Citizenship by Charles H. Wesley and Patricia W. Romero.  This book is the only one in the lot of 5 that are posted in which the previous owner did neatly ink his name inside front board, and also inside back board.  Otherwise, 307 clean and solidly bound pages.
